if you are ever searching for inspiration, look no further than the art of looking sideways.

compiled and createdy by
alan fletcher, founding partner of pentagram and all around genius, it reads a bit like the world's greatest scrapbook of excerpts, ideas, graphics, and visuals. the hefty book (it weighs in at over 500 pages) is organized thematically and given how visually stunning this book is, it is easy to forget just how witty it is. don't. this book was created to explore the clever way that words and pictures intertwine.

you know that one day a year when you can literally feel that it has become winter? you walk outside that morning and your ears and nose sting from the shock? that day was today.

in honor of winter, i'm bringing out an oldie-but-goodie--nicolette brunklaus' walk in the woods curtain. additionally, after perusing her site for the first time in about six months i also discovered these lights. originally designed for bombay sapphire's store in new york, the juxtaposition of the graphic frame with the photo-real portrait is amazing. also, although i'm not usually a fan of yellows....i can't get enough of that rich goldenrod color lately.

so i'm considering taking an apparel construction class this spring...and i really feel like this built by wendy sewing kit would be so perfect. i have always loved her designs--her vintage-inspired cuts are always the exact silhouette i'm searching for--and now she makes them accessible to all. what a brilliant idea...crafty and clever and cool.

this seems to be the best forum for posting, organizing, collating, whathaveyou all the inspiring and incredible things i stumble across daily while perusing the internet. upcoming posts--fashion, interiors, photography, art...anything and everything.

the inaugural post

i present to you...my little corner of cyberspace--listings, musings and inspirations. sit down, relax, put your feet up, and enjoy.

eventually, i plan on changing the aesthetics...something with a more design-y touch...but i don't seem to have enough web knowledge. in the interim, we'll use the template.

things to do--

--improve my drawing...concentrate on linework and weight
--buy a decent sketchbook
--learn to knit
--use photography as a means to "freeze" an environment...recreate in linear penwork. note: do i need a decent camera for this? digital or not?
